By DinaG | July 22, 2008
Monte Hewett Homes’ viral YouTube video on “What does an EarthCraft House sound like?” has made it into Builder Magazine’s July Green Building issue. The extensive article focuses on how some builders are marketing their green building message. Here is an excerpt from the article:
Hearing is Believing
Atlanta-based Monte Hewett Homes uses a simple, dramatic demonstration to show buyers how blown insulation can give them both energy efficiency and peace and quiet, even in the middle of the city. The company was kind enough to film it for Builder. Check it out on YouTube.com.

Monte Hewett Homes has a community of luxury townhomes in Buckhead called The Park at East Paces, and now these new Atlanta townhomes are priced from $561,500. With a location in the center of popular shopping and dining at the corner of East Paces Ferry and Roxboro Road, the gated community offers an Intown lifestyle at an amazing value.
At The Park at East Paces, you’ll find 18 right-priced townhomes with all brick exteriors, stone accents and dramatic front entryways ready to welcome homebuyers. Inside, homes are finished with stunning trim and architectural details. Each gourmet kitchen comes equipped with Viking oven, microwave/convection oven and warming drawer. Granite countertops, raised panel cherry cabinetry with crown molding and tile or stone backsplashes add to the style. Other features include morning bars in the owner’s suites, options for elevators in some plans, flexible space on the lower levels and alley-entry, two-car garages. The spacious homes range in size from about 2,200 to 3,300 square feet, and high ceilings and lots of windows make them seem even larger.
As are all Monte Hewett Homes, these townhomes are built to meet or exceed the standards of ENERGY Star and EarthCraft. This added feature means that you won’t be spending as much money every month on your power bill, leaving extra spending money for the fantastic shopping that is right outside your front door.

Heatherton Marks the Change in Seasons
By LauraE | June 20, 2008
Everyone knows that the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, takes place on June 21st every year. Well, that makes this year exceptional because the Summer Solstice is actually today - June 20! This is a big deal because the Monte Hewett Homes community in Roswell, Heatherton, has a unique maze - called the Heatherton Folly - which is composed of two partially overlapping labyrinths. The larger labrinth ends at the Solstice Spire, whose shadow marks the seasons. In addition to casting its shortest shadow of the year at the Summer Solstice, the spire will strike two black rocks just outside the maze with its shadow. The only other day of the year when the shadow hits these two rocks is at the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year and the time the spire casts its longest shadow.
Residents at Heatherton are pretty fortunate to have such unique landscaping available to them year-round, and it is just a symbol of how the community is extraordinary all in itself. If this sounds like the kind of community you’d be interested in, you should visit Heatherton because it’s an intimate community in which fewer than 100 buyers will have the privilege of calling home.
