Many local Atlantans experienced severe weather this past Friday evening. While most of us turn to our TVs for weather reports and tornado/thuderstorm warnings, many times the storms knock out cable and sattelite TV. That's where having a severe weather radio in your home can really save lives.
WSB TV Channel 2 Action News have teamed up with Midland Radio and Kroger to raise awareness of the need for these special radios. This campaign helps Georgians prepare for dangerous weather as well as all hazard situations. The state of the art, digital alert radio requires little set up and is easy to use. Kroger will began offering the lifesaving unit in all of its Metro Atlanta stores in February at a greatly reduced price of $29.99.
Every radio sold contributes $2.50 to the campaign for local disaster relief and charities. Last year Channel 2 donated over $60,000 to support local victims of severe weather as well as those in need. The local charities include: American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Cabbage Town Initiative, Clayton County Emergency Services, United Way, Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless and Atlanta Community Food Bank.
